the honest math behind every Etsy order

Etsy takes more than you think.
See your true profit per order.

Fees don't just come from one place: 6.5% transaction, payment processing, listing fees โ€” and the 12โ€“15% Offsite Ads fee that quietly erases entire margins. Paste one order below and see where the money actually goes.

๐Ÿ”’ 100% in-browser โ€” every calculation runs on your device. No account, no tracking, your numbers never leave it.

The hidden math, in one worked example

$25 item + $5 shipping, organic sale

Gross after nothing$30.00
Etsy transaction fee (6.5% incl. shipping)โˆ’$1.95
Payment processing (3% + $0.25)โˆ’$1.15
Listing feeโˆ’$0.20
Product + shipping + packagingโˆ’$13.00
Your profit$13.70 (45.7%)

Healthy. Now watch what one ad click doesโ€ฆ

Same order, but it came from Offsite Ads

Same gross & costs$30.00 / $13.00
Same Etsy + processing feesโˆ’$3.30
Offsite Ads fee (15%)โˆ’$4.50
Your profit$9.20 (30.7%)

One fee took a third of your margin. Sellers on Reddit call this "profit wiped out by a single sale" โ€” now you can see it before it happens.

Questions sellers actually ask

Are these rates current?

Rates reflect Etsy's published fee schedule as of September 2026: 6.5% transaction fee (applied to item + shipping โˆ’ discount), $0.20 listing fee, Offsite Ads at 15% (under $10k trailing revenue) or 12% (over $10k). Always confirm on Etsy's official fee page โ€” and if something changed, tell us and we'll fix it same day.

Why does the transaction fee apply to shipping too?

Because Etsy charges 6.5% on the total order amount including shipping and gift wrap. Most sellers budget for 6.5% of the item price and get burned on the shipping portion โ€” the calculator includes it so there are no surprises.

What about payment processing outside the US?

Processing fees vary by country (e.g., 4% + ยฃ0.20 in the UK). Pick your country in the dropdown or choose Custom to enter your exact rate โ€” you'll find it in Shop Manager โ†’ Finances โ†’ Payment processing.

Does FeeMath store or upload my data?

No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser โ€” nothing you type (prices, costs, margins) is sent to any server, ever. The single thing we ever store is your email address, and only if you choose to join the Pro waitlist. Even Pro is designed the same way: your Etsy CSV is parsed locally in your browser.

Is this affiliated with Etsy?

No. FeeMath is an independent tool built by people who got tired of spreadsheets. Etsy is a trademark of Etsy, Inc. โ€” this site is not endorsed by or connected with Etsy, Inc. in any way.
